I think this is an amazing story, but not because we didn't realise that Edward ate like a pig and had depraved sexual appetite all his adult life. After all royals have always done what they wanted, without being accountable to anyone.

Rather it is because Edward influenced an entire generation of wealthy, important families to behaviour that was absurd.

Agreed, and yet he became very popular. Perhaps we like our celebrities to be larger than life.
